Administrative / Biographical History

The Association of Biscuit Manufacturers was formed in 1903 and in December 1938 it agreed to collaborate with the British Cake and Biscuit Association in war contingency planning. In January 1939 the Cake and Biscuit Wholesale Manufacturers' Defence Committee was formed and was succeeded in June 1941 by the Cake and Biscuit Manufacturers' War Time Alliance, which changed its name to the Cake and Biscuit Alliance Limited in December 1949.

With effect from June 1981, the CBA and the Cocoa, Chocolate and Confectionery Alliance (CCCA) merged their administrative services whilst retaining their individual identities.

With effect from 2 January 1987, the CBA merged with the CCCA to form the Biscuit Cake Chocolate and Confectionery Alliance.
