The Yearbook was essentially intended as an up-to-date work of reference for members of the Co-operative movement and kindred movements such as the labour movement and the women's movement. It included a survey of co-operative activities both in Britain and abroad, conference reports, statistical information, articles on various social issues and reviews of developments in science and the arts.

Administrative / Biographical History
The Peoples Yearbook was published annually by the Co-operative Wholesale Society Limited and the Scottish Co-operative Wholesale Society Limited from 1918. In 1919 it was incorporated with the Annual of The Co-operative Wholesale Societies (English and Scottish). The yearbook was intended as an indispensible work of reference for the Co-operative and kindred movements. It was usually published in both hardback and paperback versions with the aim of being affordable to all.
