Daihannya haramittakyō, kan dai-284 大般若波羅蜜多經巻第二百八十四 [大般若波羅蜜多経巻第二百八十四]

Translator: Xuanzang (唐) 玄奘 (Japanese: Genjō), Chinese monk, 602-64. Imprint: N.p., Myōchi 明智, Dōshun 道俊, [Nanbokuchō period, c. 1380-90] . Genuine kanki (undated) at end of volume reads: 開板明智道俊. The blockprinted date above this, reading 保元二年正月 (1157), is a spurious later addition. Description: 1 kan, 1 jō 帖 in 40 folds. 25.8 x 11.3 cm. (each half-fold). Orihon. Blockprint. Printing frame (height) 20-20.5 cm. No borders. No vertical rules. Kanbun text without kunten or reading marks. 6 lines to half-fold, 17 characters to line. Plain pale-fawn covers (original ?), with manuscript gedai on left, written c. late-Edo period on a narrow paper strip pasted on cover. Gedai reads: 大般若經 保元板 [sic] . Title from naidai. Text paper, kōzo dyed yellow. Edition: Kasuga-ban of Nanbokuchō period. The kanki signed by Myōchi and Dōshun suggests that the present volume belongs to the edition of Daihannyakyō published under the sponsorship of the warlord Sasaki Ujiyori (Sūei) 佐々木氏賴 (崇永) in the year Kōryaku 1 康暦元年, 1379. Contents: Three volumes from an edition of the Chinese translation of Mahāprajñā-pāramitā-sūtra, the 'Perfection of Wisdom in 600 chapters', first printed in Japan in its entirety in the Jōō-Karoku periods, 1222-27.
