Variant title: Inpu gungyoku 韻府群玉 [韻府群玉]. Author/compiler: Yin Shifu 陰時夫, compiler. Commentary by his elder brother Yin. Imprint: Rakuyō [Kyōto1, Tanaka Chōzaemon 田中長左衞門, Kan'ei 2, 1625. Kanki on last page of maki 38 reads: 寛永二年乙丑初春吉日 / 洛陽玉屋町田中長左衞門開刋. Description: 38 kan, formerly in 38 satsu, now rebound in 5 vols. western style. 28.5 x 21 cm. Fukurotoji. Movable type. Printing frame 22.6 x 17.4 cm. (average), but note that outside the printed borders single characters are printed as headings in the upper margins. Double-line borders all round. Thin vertical rules, faintly printed, between columns. 'Flower petal' fishtail design on hanshin. Kanbun text, without printed kunten or reading marks. 10 lines to page (double for commentary), 18 characters to line. Original vermilion front covers, embossed with a hemp-leaf pattern, of maki 1, 9, 17, 25 and 32 only. Each retains its original printed title slip, bearing gedai: Zōzoku inpu 増續韻府 (上平 / 一, 等). Title from naidai at head of each maki. Hashiragaki: Gungyoku 群玉 + maki no. + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding. Edition: The only movable type edition of this work, issued by a commercial publisher (see kanki). Possibly printed from bronze type. The type used for printing the commentary by Yin Zhongfu is of unusually small size. Standard sub-headings throughout the text are printed either inkoku or within double-line frames, some of the latter being two-kanji compounds engraved on a single piece of type (e.g. 活套). This edition was preceded by an undated Gozan-ban consisting of only 20 kan, without the supplement of Bao Yu 包瑜. Contents: An encyclopedic work (leishu 類書), listing kanji under rhymes and tones, serving both as a dictionary and as a source for rhyming poetical composition. Chinese title: Yunfu qunyu 韻府群玉.
