    • 1 volume Condition: Good, with only minor worm damage (confined to margins) in maki 9 and 10, and some brown staining in maki 1. Impression: Slightly atozuri. Some evidence of block wear and uneven inking. Seals of ownership: Two small square red seals, Hokudō 北堂, and Higuchi Masatsune樋口正庸 (printed inkoku), on first page of mokuroku 目録, On the same page, a circular black stamp reading: 豆州○大城瓜生野. Manuscript notes: Kunten and kaeriten in black, kutōten and shubiki in red, added in mid- to late-Muromachi period (c. 1450-1550).

Variant title: Shoju chūkai kobun shinpō zenshū 諸儒註解古文眞寶前集 [諸儒註解古文真宝前集]. Variant title: Kobun shinpō zenshū 古文眞寶前集 [古文真宝前集]. Author/compiler: Uncertain, but formerly attributed to Huang Jian 黄堅. Imprint: N.p., n.d. [mid-Nanbokuchō period, c. 1350-70] . No colophon. Description: 10 kan, 1 satsu, rebound in 1 vol. western style. Text of maki 1 preceded by 4-folio mokuroku 目録. 23.9 x 15.3 cm. Fukurotoji. Blockprint. Printing frame 17.5-18.5 x 11.3-11.7 cm. Single-line borders above and below text. Double-line borders at inner edge of each leaf. Vertical rules between columns. Fishtail design on hanshin. Kanbun text, without printed kunten or reading marks. 11 lines to page (double for commentary), 21 characters to line. Renewed dark green front cover (mid-Edo period), with title slip bearing non-specific. Manuscript gedai: 燕霞園叢書. Title from naidai at head of main text. Title at head of mokuroku 目録: Shoju chūkai kobun shinpō zenshū 諸儒註解古文眞寶前集. Hashiragaki (on very narrow hanshin) : Bun zen 文前 + maki no. + folio no. In a western style half-leather binding. Edition: Gozan-ban, modelled on a Chinese Yuan edition. The earliest Japanese edition, printed from newly cut blocks probably engraved by immigrant Chinese blockcutters. Contents: A selection of notable works of Chinese poetry and prose: poetry in the first series (前集) and prose in the second (後集). The former is a highly selective anthology of verse from Han to Song periods.
