Small group of papers relating to George Owen's time as a prisoner of war including some items relating to his service in the Merchant Navy.

This collection contains items written in English and German.

Administrative / Biographical History

George Robert Owen was born in Beverley on 12 August 1892. He married Edith Hodgson (born 3 Nov 1891) and they had five daughters and one son. He began service in the Merchant Navy in 1925 and was captured on the SS Salerno on 2 May 1940. He was transferred to Marlag and Milag Nord Camp at Westertinnake Germany.
