Administrative / Biographical History

Leonard H.D. Scard, OBE, was a colonial administrator in Uganda until the government of Idi Amin (who appropriated his farm in 1971), and Honorary Consul at Lamu, Kenya until c1990. Tory and nationalist by persuasion, he died in 1993, leaving most of his property to a Swahili called Abdallah, whom he had adopted as a boy.
