Papers of Muriel Cornock

Ms case book of Muriel Cornock, pupil midwife at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London (3 November 1931-23 January 1932), recording the name, age, address, religion, occupation and pregnancy history of each patient, as well as notes and charts on the progress of their labour and the puerperium on the labour ward, including any complications that occurred and also the condition, sex and weight of the child, together with reports providing a summary of the case and the postnatal care. Also accompanied by an ms register of cases attended by Muriel Cornock, presumably as a qualified midwife under the jurisdiction of London County Council (24 June-2 August 1932), a printed copy of the Rules of the Central Midwives Board (1928) and ms notes on circulation of the blood during pregnancy and breastfeeding, written by K. Herrington (circa. 1920-1930), which were found inserted inside the case register.

Muriel Cornock (fl. 1910-1940) was a midwife who trained at Queen Charlotte's Hosptial, London between 1931 and 1932. She went on to practice in Dursley, Gloucestershire for approximately 30 years, before becoming a Deputy Matron at Berkley Hospital.
