Scope and Content

This collection comprises midwifery lecture notes of Phyllis Blanch Cook (12 October-7 December 1951), relating to the administration of gas and air, the care of premature infants, methods of infant feeding, the treatment of birth trauma and diseases of newborn babies, together with a case book (10 December 1951-31 October 1952) and (case register 27 December 1952-14 August 1956), recording details of the births she attended during her training and subsequent career as a midwife at the Alexandra Maternity Home in London and then around the area of Fletton, near Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.
