Scrapbook of the Princess Beatrice Hospital

Scrapbook, containing newspaper cuttings from primarily the Daily Telegraph and the Evening Standard, collected by staff at the Princess Beatrice Hospital, London (28 October 1942-21 July 1962), relating to the role of nurses and the future of the nursing profession, the training and education of nurses, salaries of nurses and their conditions of service, the implications of there being a shortage of nurses, health legislation and the management of hospitals.

The hospital later known as the Princess Beatrice Hospital was founded in 1887 as a voluntary hospital called the Jubilee Hospital to commemorate the jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was situated at the corner of Finborough Road and Old Brompton Road, then known as Richmond Road.

The hospital was closed at the end of March 1978.
