Scope and Content

The papers and letters of French booksellers and bibliographers, including those of the Nyon family (papers cover 1786-1820), Treutell & Wrtz (papers cover 1813-43), and tienne Gabriel Peignot (papers cover 1804-53). There is also an arrangement of papers of miscellaneous French, German, Italian and English writers and booksellers (17th-19th century).

Administrative / Biographical History

The Nyon family were booksellers in Paris; Treutell & Wrtz were also booksellers.

tienne Gabriel Peignot was born at Arc-en-Barrois on the 15th of May, 1767. Originally a bookseller he later became librarian at Dijon. Peignot died in 1849.
