Public Libraries 1887-1894. These papers were kept on behalf of their clients by Thomas Thornton, Son & Co in the course of their practice as solicitors.

Administrative / Biographical History

The firm of Thomas Thornton, Son & Co was formed c. 1880 when Thomas Thornton set up with his son William. Thomas Thornton had previously been in partnership with James Patullo as Patullo & Thornton. In 1972 Messrs Thomas Thornton, Son & Co merged with Messrs Dickie, Gray, MacDonald and Fair, to form Thornton and Dickie WS. In 1982 the firm became Thornton, Dickie and Brand WS, and is now known as Thorntons WS Solicitors & Estate Agents.
