Scope and Content

Full title reads 'Being the official correspondence of the Rev W. Sykes, copied from the originals in the Archives of the London Missionary Society. With some other Documents to complete the story, notably concerning Rev T. M. Thomas'. Original documents date from 1859 to 1883. Pasted at front of volume are typescipt extracts of letters from W. W. Anderson, Shangani, 1932, and Mrs Carnegie, Bulawayo, 1930, recalling memories of the Matabele Mission.

Administrative / Biographical History

William Sykes (1829-1887), served as a missionary with the London Missionary Society in Southern Africa from 1858 until his death in 1887.
