Hopes mine will flourish in 1933. Interested in photograph of two steamers. Any ship is most wonderful thing in world. Sees Italian liners such as Rex going into Villefranche. Mount Rain[i]er looks as grand as Ortler, which he once climbed. Joe Mowat and Sib Napier dead. Becoming easier to quit world in which individual freedom menaced. Been to New Club in Hotel Ruhl, Nice; secretary is Captain Welton. On use of some of his publications. On suicide. Encloses extract copy of Fortgang's report on his German translation of Paterson's 'Tanissa'.
