Jones studied medicine at Owens College, graduating in 1903. He trained in ENT work and worked at hospitals in London and Birmingham, and did postgraduate work in Vienna. He was a consultant aural surgeon at SMH and honorary surgeon at the St. John's Ear Hospital, and surgeon in charge of the ENT department at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. He was also a member of Manchester Medical Society and MPS.
