Administrative / Biographical History

Bob Purdie (1940-2014) was an active member of the Amalgamated Engineering Union (AEU) on Clydebank. He was a member of the Young Socialists from 1960-64, the Socialist Labour League from 1961-66, and a member of the International Marxist Group between 1966-76.

Purdie served as an IMG Central Committee (1967-74) and National Committee (1966-75) member, and worked for a while as full-time London organiser. He became organiser of the Anti-Internment League, 1972-3, and was a journalist with the 'Red Weekly', 1973-4.

Historian, educator, bibliophile, sometime professional revolutionary, committed Christian, passionate democratic socialist and long-time Scottish nationalist
