Stephen Walter D'Souza, b 1939.

D'Souza gained his medical qualifications from the University of Manchester in 1964. He was awarded a PhD in 1973 and in 1983 became FRCP (London). D'Souza came to Manchester in 1970 as lecturer in paediatrics to the University of Manchester, and in 1976 was appointed senior lecturer, later reader, in paediatrics and consultant physician at St Mary's Hospital Manchester. He had previously held hospital appointments in Oxford and London.
