Scope and Content

These items were sent to Oxfordshire Archives in February 1995 from Derbyshire Record Office, where they had first been deposited, and assigned the Accession Number 3933.

These addresses date from an election in Woodstock of 1844, caused by the appointment of the sitting MP, Frederick Thesiger, as Solicitor-General. The seat was contested by L.C. Humfrey and John, Marquis of Blandford (later the 7th Duke of Marlborough). The Marquis of Blandford won.

Catalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in January 1996.
