Administrative / Biographical History

Douglas Lockhart was a lecturer in geography at the University of Keele from 1979 until his retirement in 2006. His academic career also included positions at the universities of Belfast, Khartoum, and Swansea. His research interests included the historical geography of rural Scotland as well as the development of smaller islands, such as Malta and Cyprus. His publications include The Development Process in Small Islands (joint editor, 2002), and the Social and Economic Atlas of Malta and Gozo (with K. T. Mason, 1989)
