Scope and Content

A Free School was founded and endowed by Luke Taylor in Great Haseley around 1647. It was settled by order of the Court of Chancery, that surplus funds from his will would be shared around Great Haseley. By 1895, the boys school had combined with the girls schools (See S125/1 for records of this school.) and in 1902 a new school room was built for 100 students. The school closed in 1994 and became Great Haseley Nursery School. Please see CC4/94 for other records of this school. For School Managers Minutes please see Mss d.d. Par Great Haseley c.20 1903-47 and e.11 1951-1982.

The records were deposited as part of Acc 3140 in September 1990, as part of Acc 3852 in August 1994 and as Acc 4391 in September 1998. Catalogued by Julie Davies, August 1994 with additions by Alison Smith in May 2016.
