Scope and Content

in Naples to Mr E Roberts regarding an accident which occured to W Lloyd Jones who fell on to the deck from the mainsail when the schooner Elizabeth Llewelyn gave a heavy lurch. The topping lift of the main boom accidentally unhooked and the boom fell partly on top of him. He had his left leg broken half way between the knee and the ankle and he complained of his side and right cheek. They put him to bed at once and bandaged him and put splinters each side of him. They were near Sardinia at the time but could not get there as the wind was against them so they turned back about 200 miles to get him to hospital. He has left sufficient money in the hands of the consul to pay his way home on a steamer .
