Scope and Content

The Dyffryn Aled estate, Llansannan, Denbighshire, was owned by the Wynne family during the 18th century. Diana Wynne (b. 1748), the heiress of Dyffryn Aled, married Richard O. Meyrick, but was widowed by 1779; she then married Philip Yorke (1743-1804), of Erddig, Denbighshire. Their son was Pierce Wynne Yorke (1784-1837), of Dyffryn Aled, High Sheriff of Denbighshire, 1817. The estate was inherited by his eldest son, Pierce Wynne Yorke (b. 1826), and the estate passed down through the Wynne-Yorke family into the 20th century, but was later sold.
