    • Codex 240 ff Material: European paper. Dimensions: 215 mm x 150 mm [170 mm x 110 mm written; each column ca 50 mm]. Foliation: British Museum foliation in pencil. Lines per page: 15 lines/ page. Script: Serṭā. Ink: Black ink, with rubricated headings and text divers in red. Binding: British Museum binding. Condition: Good, though folio 234 partly torn. Marginalia: A few notes. Catch words: Normally lower left margin of the verso (corresponding to the second column on the following recto). Other: The Psalms are divided into 15 marməyātā with short comments attributed to Theodore of Mopsuestia (Margoliouth, Descriptive, 17).

Scope and Content

This bilingual Syriac-Karshuni volume (arranged in facing columns) contains Psalms, including Psalm 151, Odes and prayers, as well as Bar-Hebraeus On perfection. The Psalms are translated from the Peshitta (cf. Margoliouth, Descriptive, 17). Contents:. 150 Psalms, fols. 1r- 210v. Psalm 151, fol. 211r. The First Song of Moses, fols. 211v-214v. The Second Song of Moses 2, fols. 214v-219v. Gloria/Great Doxology, 219v-221v. The Lord's Prayer, 222r. The Nicene Creed, fols. 222v-223v. The Song of Hannah, fols. 223v-224r. The Prayer of Habbakuk, fols. 224r-225r. The Prayer of Isaiah, fols. 225r-225v. The Prayer of Jonah, fols. 225v-226r. The Prayer of Azariah, fol. 226r. The Song of the Three Young Men, fol. 226v-227r. Magnificant, fol. 227r-v. Beatitudes, fol. 227v. Metrical discourse (rhymed pairs) by Bar-Hebraeus On perfection, fols. 228r-240r. List, fol. 240r. The manuscript does not contain a colophon, and is presumed to have been copied in the 18th century CE.
