Scope and Content

This collection has been assigned the new reference code - U SSLA.

This collection predominantly contains minutes, committee papers, correspondence and other memorandum relating to the central concerns of the LASA. These include staff participation in University government and representation on Senate, rules on salaries and promotion and provision of adequate parking for staff. The collection also contains a detailed report on students and their lives conducted by Dr F.W. Klingender, some extracts from Senate minutes and some memoranda to the University Grants Committee from LASA. There are also documents relating to an enquiry into the administration of departments and various staff circulars from 1970.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Hull University Lecturing and Administrative Staff Association was formed to represent the views of the non-professorial staff. One of the main foci of the Association's efforts was increasing non-professorial staff membership of the University Senate and government. The Association disbanded in 1973.
