Elise Lincé was sent by the Methodist Missionary Society to Rhodesia in 1933 to open a girls' department at the Tengwani Training Institute near Plumtree. After working in Plumtree for five years she went on to teach at the Chipembi Training Institute in Northern Rhodesia. In 1943 she became a member of the Government's African Education Advisory Board and in 1944 she had to return to England for family reasons.
