Scope and Content

Photograph of the battlefield of Néry where the L Battery, British Horse Regiment fell on 1 September, 1914 where all of the horses were killed within the first two minutes of fighting the Germans. The image shows a field strewn with dead horses, a destroyed wagon and farm building and trees in the background.
