Scope and Content

This volume contains part of an anonymous prose version of the Alexander romance, containing many verse extracts, including several from the İskendername of Ahmedi (ff 58v, 79v, 166v, etc.), probably arranged by or for a meddah. The work, which is imperfect at the beginning, is divided as follows: İkinci meclis (f 59r); üçüncü meclis (f 79v); dördüncü meclis (f 142v); beşinci meclis (f 166v); altıncı meclis (f 186r); yedinci meclis (f 237v); and sekizinci meclis (f 223r). The mecalis always open with verses and the prose passages are introduced by the words 'ravi eder'. Some of the folios have been bound in the incorrect order. This manuscript was copied in 839 AH (1435-36 CE).
