Scope and Content

This volume contains the poem Şah u Geda by Yahya Efendi of the Dukagjini family of Albania. It was likely composed during his exile to the Sancak of Zvornik, Bosnia. This is the fifth poem in Yahya Efendi's Hamse, and the one described by Gibb as his most popular. The text features a considerable amount of illumination in headings and margins, likely added in the 19th century CE. The manuscript was completed on 26 Zulkade 1020 AH (16 January 1612 CE).
