    • 1 text 141 ff. Materials : Thick beige paper; ff. 86 and 91 appear to be marbled in blue. Dimensions : 225 mm x 138 mm. Foliation : European, 141 ff. Ruling : Red-ruled text boxes, 165 mm x 80 mm. Script : Cramped nesih. Ink : Black ink with catchwords, titles, underlines and text box outlines in red; gold medallions between phrases on ff. 64v-65r; rare formica-sprinkled ink in marginalia. Binding; Original leather covers with considerable water damage, faded stamped medallion in the centre of each board.

Scope and Content

This volume contains a commentary on the Qaṣīdat al-burdah (قصيدة البردة) of Abū ᶜabdullāh Muḥammad ibn Saᶜīd al-Būṣīrī (died 694 AH/1294-95 CE or 696 AH/1296-97 CE) by Seyit Ahmet İbn-i Mustafa known as Lali (died 971 AH/1563-64 CE).The text is a Sufi poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad صلعم. Copious marginalia throughout the text in various hands. Folio 1r contains numerous statements of ownership in Ottoman Turkish. An inscription in black ink on folio 64r has largely been effaced. A new text begins on f. 64v, with small gold medallions interspersed between sentences on ff. 64v-65r. A small ownership stamp appears on f. 66r. Extensive water damage. The manuscript is undated and defective at both the beginning and end of the text.
