Scope and Content

This volume contains a mesnevi by the poet Fazlı. Kara Fazlı (Mehmet) of İstanbul was a disciple of Zati and successively attached as Divan Secretary to three sons of Kanunî Sultan Süleyman: Mehmet, Mustafa (to whom the current poem is dedicated), and Selim. He died, according to Kınalızade, in 970 AH (1562-63 CE), or in 971 AH (1563-64 CE) according to Haj. Khal. The date of composition of this poem is 960 AH (1552-53 CE) according to the final beyit. The current volume is partially stained by damp and was likely composed in the 16th century.
