Scope and Content

This volume contains the poetical works of Yenizade Mustafa Naili, the son of Piri Halife. The poet, who died in 1077 AH (1666-67 CE), is generally known as Naili-yi Kadim. The Divan is divided as follows:. ff 1v-45v : Several na't, kasideler, müseddes and terkib-bendler;. ff 46v-104r : Gazeller;. ff 104r-104v : Kıt'alar, rubaiyat, a müstezad and a chronogram celebrating the birth of Prince Mustafa, the son of Mehmet IV. The text contains 2 unvans, and there is a note by a former owner on the first folio dated 1191 AH (1777-78 CE). The date 1122 AH (1710-11 CE) has been written in the space from which the colophon (in red) has been obliterated. It seems likely to have been the date of transcription.
