This volume contains a romantic mesnevi by Rahmi (Pir Mehmet Çelebi). According to Von Hammer (GOD II, p. 290), the poet was born in Bursa, became Müderris at Yenişehir and was richly rewarded by his patron, the Grand Vizier İbrahim Paşa. His death occurred in 980 AH (1562-63 CE). It is stated in Latifi (p. 163, as well as in OM II, p. 180), that the poet wrote two works called Şah u Geda, the first of which was a translation of the Persian work of the same title by Hilālī and the other was a nazire to the Şah u Geda of Yahya Bey. As the poet says on f 58r, this work was his own composition, and thus it appears to be a recension of the latter text. The name of the poet has been wrongly given in the lettering on the spine as Rahimi, but the correct name appears on f 6v. The date of transcription which appears at the end should be read as 955 CE (1548-49 CE). This is more likely than 900 AH (1494-95 CE), if the date of death given above (970 AH) is correct.
