Scope and Content

This volume contains the poems of Hafız, about whom nothing appears in the tezkireler. The only information is provided by the Divan itself, where it is mentioned (f 13r) that he was from Ayntab (Gaziantep). Another copy of the work states that the poet lived in the 17th century CE. This is unlikely if we accept a chronogram on f 94v of the current copy, which gives the date 1155 AH (1742-43 CE) for the poet's death. The Divan opens with a versified preface, followed by a müstezad and gazeller on f 3v. Miscellaneous poems such as terkibibentler, terciibentler, muhammesat and others follow (ff 83r-95v). The manuscript was likely copied in the 18th century CE.
