Scope and Content

This volume contains a series of dialogues deemed essential to contemporary translators. It comes with the following title and subtitle: Quelques dialogues nécessaires aux dragomans. Manuscrit turk à la fin du quel se trouve deux petits poèmes: l'un sur les noms des fruits; l'autre sur les vertus du certains noms de femmes. The dialogues of the text are between the Dragoman and various Ottoman officials, beginning with the Vezir kahyası, who asks the question 'Ne var tercüman bir söylecek sözünüz ve masalıhınız var mı?', which is answered by the Dragoman. The two longer poems at the end (ff 27r-30v, 30v-35v) are children's riddles and are followed by a few childish rhymes and jingles with crude drawings of birds. The manuscript is not dated, but was likely copied in the early 19th century CE.
