This volume contains the selected correspondence, private and official, of Ali Efendi, an otherwise unidentified Ottoman civil servant of the 12th century AH/18th century CE. The letters include dates ranging between 1143-49 AH/1730-37 CE. One letter, on f 31v, is dated 1110 AH/1698-99 CE. The manuscript also includes several pieces of calligraphy as well as scribbles and squiggles. Some calligraphy of hadith on f 37v, done later than the text, is dated 1199 AH/1784-85 CE. The compilation of the manuscript itself is undated, and probably goes back to around the mid-twelfth century AH/mid-eighteenth century CE.
