Scope and Content

This volume contains the Divan of Şerif Yahya İhya Efendi, known by his mahlas of İhya (died 1228 AH/1813 CE). That the poet whose work is represented in this volume is indeed Şerif Yahya İhya Efendi is made clear from a reference on f 17r. The manuscript is divided into three parts with spaces left for unvans that were never painted. The first two sections (ff 1v-39r and ff 40v-62v) contain kasideler, while the third section (ff 63v-105v) includes gazeller and kıt'alar. The last section of this manuscript is badly affected by damp. The text was copied in the 19th century CE.
