Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetical works of İzzet Ali Paşa. According to GOD IV, p. 279, he was born in 1103 AH (1691 CE) and died while Sarasker in Persia around 1147 AH (1734-35 CE). The first poem in the Divan is in praise of Ahmet III. Kasideler to İbrahim Paşa and the Kapudanpaşa Mustafa Paşa follow, and the section ends with two unfinished (natamam) kasideler (f 14v). The chronograms follow (ff 14v-21v) and there is a tercibend (ff 21v-23r) on a verse of Nef'i on the capture of Tabriz and a tahmis followed by other poems of this type (ff 23r-24r). The gazeller begin on f 24v and contine to 48v, where rubaiyat and other poems are found up to f 50v. After a lacuna, a short mesnevi begins on f 31v and from f 52v onward there are several şarkılar. The manuscript is defective at the end. This work was copied in the 19th century.
