[Two Ottoman Turkish texts]

This volume contanis the following two texts:. (II) ff 1v-20v : Risale-yi ilm-i kiyafet ve firaset, a treatise on the arts of physiognomy, compiled from Arabic and Persian sources by el-Hacc Mustafa İbn-i Evrenos for Sultan Selim (likely Selim II, reigned 974-82 HA/1566-74 CE). The present manuscript contains diagrams illustrating the section on cheiromancy, on ff 13v, 15r, 16v, and 18v-20v;. (II) ff 21v-55v : Güft-i Şeyh İbrahim, a mesnevi on aspects of the Sufi Path, bearing no title other than the heading. The work is attributed to İbrahim in the final beyt. No copies of the poem have been located in other catalogues. It was composed in 1023 AH (1614-15 CE) and includes verses praising Sultan Ahmet (I). The Dibaçe is followed by nine sections: Der beyan-i ahval-i bidayet; Der beyan-i Arif-i Hakk kime derler; Der zikr-i ahval-i vücud-i insan; Der ahval-i zikr-i kalb-i insan; Der beyan-i ahval-i seyr ü süluk; Der beyan-i şühud-ı manevi; Der beyan-i ahval-i kurbi. The manuscript does not contain a colophon, although it appears that the scribe for both texts is the same person, and that the text was copied in the 17th century CE.
