Scope and Content

This volume contains an exposition of the religious and moral obligations of Muslims. It was originally written in Persian and translated into Ottoman Turkish during the reign of Sultan Ahmet I (1603-17 CE). The names of the author of the original work, Maṣābīḥ al-īmān (مصابيح الايمان), and the translator are not mentioned in the preface. All that is said about the latter is that they were in the service of the Sultan at the palace. . The work is divided into 50 fusul. . This manuscript is undated, but the given that the watermark bears elements common in France in the latter half of the 18th century CE, it is likely that it was copied in this period. .
