This volume contains a romantic mesnevi translated by Zihni into Ottoman Turkish from the original Persian of Jāmī. The name of this author (f 155v) is given as Abdüldelil Bağdadi in Haj. Khal. VI, p. 518, which is followed by Hayyampur (Yusuf ve Züleyha (Tebriz 1339/1960-61), pp. 104-05). All sources give 1023 AH (1614-15 CE) as the date of Zihni's death. Another copy is mentioned in the Leiden Catalogue (V, p. 283), where his name is given as Karfistanzade (?) and the date of the composition of Yusuf ve Züleyha is stated as 1024 AH (1615-16 CE), but the correct date of composition (1007 AH/1598-99 CE) appears in a chronogram on the last folio. A copy mentioned in Ethé (columns 1202-03) is not the version of Zihni, since it differs both in metre and arrangement from this manuscript. A comparison with the end of the Leiden manuscript shows that the last folios with the colophon are missing, but there are several well-defined watermarks which afford some indication of the date of transcription. The text contains a single unvan and many of the pages are damp-stained towards the end. The date of transcription is probably the early 17th century CE.
