Scope and Content

This volume contains a collection of ghazals and tercibends by a number of different poets, including Es'at Efendi, Hafız, Safaî, Bahtî (Sultan Ahmet I), Bülbülî, Huşunî, Yahya Efendi, Me'alî, Bakî, Haletî, Kesveri, Camî, Bihiştî, İşretî, Hayretî, Sa'dî, Şem'î, Necatî, Zatî, Meylî, Medîhî, Nev'î, Fuzulî, Manî, Feyzî, Ulvî, Ubeydî, Fazlî, Veysî, Figanî, Emrî, Muhibbî, Hayalî and others. This selection was probably made in the reign of Ahmet I (1012-1026 AH/1603-1617 CE), to whom several laudatory poems are addressed. There are 15 paintings dating from the early 17th century found on ff 5v, 17r, 24r, 30r, 43r, 47r, 51v, 60r, 66v, 75r, 80r, 85v, 90v, 96r, 102v and 111r, as well as an illuminated unvan.
