Scope and Content

This volume contains a mesnevi on the warlike exploits of ᶜalī ibn Abī Ṭālib. It is probably an Ottoman Turkish translation of the Persian epic Khāvar-nāmah (خاورنامه) of Muḥammad bin Ḥusām al-Dīn. The translator's name does not appear, unless 'fakir', which appears to be used as a name rather than a term of deprecation and modesty on f 164v, is their mahlas. The last folio has been supplied by a later hand. Judging from the language, this version was likely made in the 16th century CE, as it bears elements of Old Anatolian Turkish. This manuscript was likely copied in the 18th century CE.
