Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetry of Nevizade Atayi (died 1044 AH/1634-35 CE). It begins with a short introductory verse, after which comes a prose preface (ff 1v-5r). The Divan proper opens with a kaside dedicated to the Grand Vizier Murat Paşa (f 5r) followed by other kasideler and tahmisat, etc. The gazeller cover the section ff 25v-63r. The last part of the Divan consists of rubaiyat, chronograms, tazminat and other poems (ff 63v-68r). Many poems have been written in the margins. Each folio has been mounted on guards, presumably after neglect of the work. The text contains no catchwords, and there are additional poems by Atayi added in 2-3 diagonal line columns on ff 1v-2r and on the end papers. The manuscript was likely copied in the early 18th century CE.
