Scope and Content

Settlement of property relating to the marriage between Christopher Ansty of Trumpington esq (the son of Christopher Ansty DD and Mary) and Ann Calvert, daughter of Sir William Calvert of Mount Maskall, Kent, alderman of London. Ansty assigns his various lands in Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire in trust to guarantee Ann's dower of #300 per annum should he predecease her. Ann brings him a 'portion or fortune' of #4,000. Five-part indenture, 11 pages, signed and sealed by Christopher Ansty, John and Ann Calvert duty stamps, with deed poll (relating to arrangements for eight younger children of the marriage) on verso of side 2, dated 25 Apr 1790 and signed and sealed by Christopher Ansty.
