The correspondence relates to a proposed visit to Discovery, the expedition ship of the British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901-1904 (leader Robert Falcon Scott) and to Ernest Henry Shackleton who served as secretary of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society upon his return from the British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901-1904.
