Scope and Content

The early Wesleyan meetings in Witney were held in a weaving shop in the 1780-90s but by 1801 the congregation had outgrown this building and a new chapel was built in the High Street. This in turn became too small and was replaced by the present chapel designed by J. Wilson of Bath in a gothic style in 1850.
