Llanrhaeadr yng Nghinmeirch National School was opened in 1871. National schools are often known as 'Church Schools' and were affiliated with the local parish church.
A school was in existence before 1871 and the first teacher was Thomas Annwyl who was licensed to teach in 1721. A charity school was set up in 1750.
A new school, Ysgol Bro Cinmeirch, was built closer to Pentre Llanrhaeadr and opened in 1987.
