Visit of His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh to Hongkong [i.e. Hong Kong] in 1869

Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (1834-1900), second son of Queen Victoria, served in the Royal Navy, and in 1866 was promoted Captain. From 1867-68 he commanded HMS 'Galatea' on an extensive cruise which was cut short when he was wounded in Sydney. After returning to the U.K., 'Galatea' sailed for the Far East, and in the course of this cruise visited Hong Kong from 31 October - 16 November 1869. This volume chronicles the visit and is illustrated with a portrait (with facsimile signature) and six scenes, though none show actual events.

The Reverend William R. Beach was colonial chaplain and canon of Victoria, Hong Kong.
