Concerns the order by the King to attend Council, to discuss peace proposals and the 4th Duke's reply that he cannot: "I must hope tht H Mys goodness will excuse my not attending at a Council, where it is impossible for me to give any opinion in the uninform'd situation I am in. The King is I am sure too just to expect that I shou'd make myself responsible for measures that I have had no share in and that I am in a manner unacquainted with." Written from Whitehall.
