Concerns his srong criticisms for dismissals from office of Newcastle, Grafton and Rockingham and in response to it his resignation as Lord Lieutenant and Custos Rotulorum for Derbyshire: "I think it a respect due to my sovereign and what I owe to myself not to continue any longer in such an office. I must therefore desire the favour of your Lordship to carry to the King my resignation...". Written from Bath. Signed: "D".
